[.sup.13.C] and [.sup.2.H] NMR study of structure and dynamics in banana [B.sub.2] phase of a bent-core mesogen
Article Abstract:
The difficulty in orientating the [B.sub.2] phase of the banana mesogen 1,3-Phenylene-bis 4-[4-(10-undecenyloxy)-benzoyloxy] benzoate in a relatively high magnetic field is reported based on some observations using both [.sup.13.C] and [.sup.2.H] NMR. The observed [.sup.2.H] NMR spectra could be justified assuming that in the bulk [B.sub.2] phase, there is an isotropic distribution of domains, which do not orient in a particular direction relative to the magnetic field.

Deuterium NMR of the TGBA phase in chiral liquid crystals
Article Abstract:
A deuterium NMR study of the twist grain boundary smectic A* (TGBA*) phase in an NMR magnetic field of 9.4 T for the chiral compound 4-[4'-(1-methyl heptyloxy) biphenyl 4-(10-undecenyloxy) benzoate (11EB1M7) is reported. A comparison of the experimental and simulated spectra finds an accurate determination of the dynamic parameters in the TGBA* phase.

Deuterium and carbon-13 NMR study of a banana mesogen: molecular structure and order
Article Abstract:
2H and 13C NMR is used to study the orientional order and the molecular of the banana mesogen 4-chloro-1,3-phenylene bis{4,4'-(11-undecenyloxy)benzoyloxy}benzoate in its nematic phase. The comparison of (super 2)H and (super 13)C NMR helps in understanding the real structure of banana-shaped compounds in their mesophases.
